* Saturday, 19th April 2008 – 9 months & 2 weeks *

This morning, after I’ve just changed her nappy, I heard her farting. Then again, I thought, wait, I think she might be pooing. So I quickly took her to the bathroom and put on the baby toilet seat thingy for her and sat her down. She wasn’t too sure what that was about, and was wanting me to hold her. I kept distracting her with the toys and waited… then I heard a noise, a dropping into the water. Aha! We are pooing and not in the nappy!

Yah! I thought it’s nice to be able to just take her to poo and pee whenever we can tell she “might” need to go. Just slowly and see how we go. Hopefully save a few nappies

But overall, still an expensive nappy day, as she did it again later in the day. I thought, she already had pooed 3 times today, surely not again…. *sigh* So I guess next time, if there’s multiple farting events, we will take her to sit on the toilet for a few minutes just in case!

早上起來剛剛幫他換好尿布, 結果就一直放屁, 我心想, 要大便了… 趕快帶去廁所, 拿出最近幫他買的小朋友的馬桶蓋… 把妹妹坐上去. 他也搞不清楚狀況, 就一直要我抱他… 我趕快拿玩具分散他的注意力… 結果突然來了一聲: 噗嗵. 真高興, 我們肯在馬桶上大便喔! 這樣以後可以省幾片尿布…
不過這也是巧合囉, 因為也不是每次都知道他什麼時候要大便… 以後就只能觀察, 看情況吧.

不過那天還是尿布很兇啦… 大了好多次便… 想說這次應該不是大便吧… 結果…. *唉*

I had to look after Emma by myself as Sally had to attend a work related function in the evening the other day.

I made her some pasta for dinner and she loved it. Chomp, chomp, chomp. Then she cried – she wanted her bottle as well. I gave it to her and made myself some popcorn. While sitting watching her play I was eating it so she came over all interested like. So I got the rest of the pasta out (I’d made enough for 2 days) and she ate it all!

She is a great greedy guts – just like her Dad!

* Wednesday, 16th April 2008 – 9 months & 1-2 weeks *

Today when we picked her up from daycare, I’ve been told that she’s taken 2 steps today! And we were very eagar to see it for ourselves but of course, have to wait for it to happen by itself! Luckily this little one cooperated and tried to chase us for the telephone to play with… she took 2 steps forward, was almost walking too fast, then landed on the floor! But wow.

So I guess if it takes her 8 days to take one extra steps, surely we still have a month or two before she’s be walking around, eh! So I can keep putting off hiding more things in the house till later….

今天去接妹妹回家的時候, 老師跟我說他今天走了兩步喔! 爸爸媽媽超想看的… 回家就給他站著… 不過還是乖乖要等他高興走! 不過很幸運的, 他一直要跟我們拿電話去吃, 為了搶電話就往我們這裡很快的走了兩小步, 然後跌倒! 嘿嘿…. 走太快了重心不穩.

懶惰的媽想說, 8天才學會走一步, 那我收東西可以在慢慢拖吧, 應該還可以撐個一兩個月吧?

* Wednesday, 16th April 2008 – 9 months & 1-2 weeks *

I’ve been told Emma is very popular in daycare before. I know most of the teachers really like her! Most of them wanted to see her smile every time they see her and she’s not stingy with her smiles either! Big smiles for everyone. A few weeks ago, I had two little girls, still can’t talk a lot but was busy going “Emma, Emma!” Wow! I thought that was amazing!

Today, I went to pick her up, as I was walking in, some 2 year+ kids were yelling out “mummy” “mummy” from the window. I didn’t respond, ’cause I’m not their mummy! Then it was like “Emma mummy”, “Emma mummy”. Wow!! Okay, hello!

I know the teachers like her, as she hardly cries, always seem to be very happy and very active and interactive. They are also very proud of her developments. Not too sure why the kids also like her though. But it’s all good

之前就聽說妹妹在學校人氣很旺, 我知道學校老師都很喜歡他, 每次看到他就要看他笑一下. 他也很大方啊, 到處跟人家笑的很開心.

前幾週我去接他, 有兩次不同的妹妹在那裡叫 “Emma”, “Emma”. 我看他們會講的話也不多, 就會叫我們 Emma 的名字, 真感動. 果然人氣很好.
今天就更厲害了, 去接他的時候, 還在外面就有幾個2歲以上的小朋友, 一直對著我叫 “mummy” (媽媽), 我想說, 我又不是你媽… 也就沒回話. 結果就變成 “Emma mummy”, “Emma mummy”! 好強…

我知道老師喜歡妹妹是因為他很少哭, 都乖乖一直玩, 又好動, 又會跟你玩… 都很開心這樣.. 加上發展的也不錯, 他們很有成就感吧! 小朋友呢… 我就不知道了咧… 不過沒差, 人緣好是好事情.

* Saturday, 13th April 2008 – 9 months + 1 week*

Today, Emma met 3 other little babies. Joy, 8 months old. Another 7 months old boy and another little boy who’s 3 days younger. Not only she’s the biggest out of them all, her record for fighting over toys is 3:0 to Emma, which is a bit of a worry! >< She's even smacked the 9 months old boy and scared him to tears! ^^;;;;

Well, mummy used to bully other boys in school, daddy’s big, so no one bullies him. Our little Emma is starting from such a young age… not sure if it’s a good thing or not. ^^;;

今天跟3個小朋友玩喔… 一個8個月大的妹妹, 一個7個月大的弟弟, 還有一個小他3天的弟弟. 除了他塊頭比人家大, 搶玩具的紀錄是 3:0 , Emma 獲勝. 傷腦筋 ><, 還把人家9個月大的弟弟打+嚇哭了... ^^;;;;

嗯, 想想媽媽以前在學校都欺侮男生, 爸爸塊頭大, 也沒有被欺侮的份…. 我們妹妹年紀小小就這樣… 不好吧…

* Tuesday, 8th April – 9 months + 4 days*

At bath time on Tuesday, Emma was so focused on playing with her bathtime toys, she stood there without support for a little… then saw mummy, got all happy and took one step towards mummy. All unsupported. But mummy and daddy were so excited, we cheered a little too loud and frightened her. So she went from standing, one step forward, jumped a little as she got frightened and landed on her bum on the floor.

A few days later, she also took one step towards mummy from the coffee table, then she was able to reach mummy’s leg for support after that.

Today, (Saturday, 13th April) we visited another baby. At one point, she stood by herself for a bit, then took one step forward. And everyone (except the other baby) all cheered! But only one step, then we landed on the floor again

She can do squats with support easily and sometimes without support as well. Very confident on her feet now. Still wobbles at times. Very interesting to watch her.

週二在幫妹妹洗澡的時候, 他站在那裡玩了一陣子, 很專心的玩玩具, 就忘記手要扶著, 自己空手站的很高興… 後來看到媽媽, 就往前走了一步過來. 都不用扶喔… 結果爸爸媽媽太高興了, 叫的太大聲把他嚇到… 就一步之後, 因為嚇到, 身體往上抖了一嚇… 變成一屁股坐了下去…

過了幾天也是在玩, 從茶几走了一步過來媽媽這裡, 剛好可以抓到媽媽的腳, 就繼續玩囉!

今天(週六)帶去朋友家找另一個妹妹玩. 玩一玩後來也是自己站著… 專心的吃玩具… 然後往前走了一步… 然後又到地上去了. 一次都走一步而已. 不過這次大家都拍手喔!

現在自己抓著茶几玩具啊, 就可以很輕鬆的蹲下去站起來, 有時候還可以不抓東西就蹲下去又站起來.. 腳下越來越穩了, 三不五時還是會像喝醉酒那樣啦.. 不過看他就很好玩囉!

* Saturday, 22nd March, 2008 – 8 months + 2-3 weeks*

First wedding Emma has ever been to, was her uncle Phil’s wedding! Where daddy is the bestman of the wedding!
這天是妹妹第一次參加婚禮喔! 是他叔叔 Phil, 的婚禮. 他爸爸是主伴郎喔!

Emma was looking all curious and not too sure what’s going on.

But soon was getting bored! Insisted in chewing the thing that was hanging on mummy’s bag.
不過我們後來就無聊啦… 一直要吃媽媽包包上面的吊飾!

Emma was quietly sitting in the stroller eating rice cracker for the whole ceremony! As soon as that was done, nope… not happy. Too bored, want to get out! So mummy had to hold her pretty much from that point till towards the end, with some help from grandparents and others taking turn. And daddy kept coming over to check and help whenever he can.

妹妹很奇蹟的, 整個婚禮就乖乖坐在那裡吃米餅喔… 不過典禮一結束, 不要了啦, 太無聊了, 也吃飽了… 所以之後都要人家抱著囉! 媽媽就這樣抱了一天… 還好有爺爺奶奶幫忙輪流一下啦. 不過大家都抱一下就很累了… 媽媽乖乖自己抱久一點….爸爸有空可以開溜就趕快過來幫忙!

婚禮總是要有一張新郎新娘親親! (不過我們的新郎比新娘還害羞咧!)

At the reception, Emma still happy as long as she’s held by someone or on the floor with her pretty white dress, playing and getting dirty!
大家在吃飯的時候, 妹妹只要有人抱著, 不然就是可以在地上玩就開心了. 唉, 白費給他穿著他漂亮的白洋裝…還是給我到地上玩.

One thing that was very sweet, when daddy was doing his bestman speech, Emma was sooo happy and was making happy noises!

Mummy had a sore back and two very sore arms at the end of the day.
Emma was rated the best baby, the most well behaved baby everyone had ever seen at a wedding!! Only cried a little but all happy and smily the rest of the time! (Maybe mummy’s idea of a well behaved baby doesn’t actually exist)

爸爸在演講的時候, 妹妹聽到爸爸的聲音, 超級興奮的… 一直發怪怪高興的聲音, 很可愛喔!
這樣一天下來, 一切順利. 不過媽媽腰酸背痛的, 手也超酸的!!
妹妹呢, 竟然是大家公認他們見過最乖的小朋友喔. 在婚禮上幾乎是不吵的喔! 又很可愛, 都笑笑的. (唉, 那大概是媽媽理想中的乖小孩… 條件太高了吧?!)

* Easter 2008 – 8 months 2-3 weeks *

這次去爺爺奶奶(在基督城)家玩的照片. 因為忙著看著他, 很多沒有照到.

Playing with her toys, she learns how to take the blocks out of the box! But doesn’t know how to put them back though!
玩玩具, 學會了把積木從盒子裡抓出來玩, 不會放回去就是了!

Oh and Emma also had an interesting experience with the dog (Mozzi) and the cat (Oscar).
She went from very scared of both of them, ie. cry and crawl away… to slowly become very curious but still scared of the dog first. So she would cry, but keep moving towards the dog. Then eventually touching the dog and smacking the dog. Oh did I mention pulling the dog’s hair? Then eventually get all excited and growling at the dog. Finally, started to be less scared of the cat and was pulling its tail.

It was quite funny to watch the whole progression from scared to curious and getting closer with the pets. Who knows what she would do in Xmas this year!

這次妹妹跟爺爺奶奶家的寵物, 狗狗 Mozzi 跟貓貓 Oscar, 從很害怕到比較不怕,倒是段有趣的過程. 一開始看到他們就超怕的, 就會哭叫, 會逃跑. 後來就更好笑了, 又很好奇又害怕. 看到狗狗就一直哭, 然後還一直要往前, 又會怕怕的. 後來慢慢的終於趕接近狗狗, 還會去摸他打他…還拔人家的毛咧! 每次看到狗狗就很興奮, 還會對人家亂叫亂叫的… 之後才慢慢趕接近貓貓. 還會去抓他的尾巴.

看他這樣真的很好玩. 真不知道他下次(耶誕節的時候)看到他們的反應會是怎樣!

* Monday, March 10th 2008 – 8 months old * 八個月大

Trying to feed Emma her rice porridge that evening was a bit of a struggle. She kept wanting to grab the bowl and have a try. Mummy read somewhere that they would want to feed themselves, it’d be messy but we should give them a go. So here’s the results of Emma grabbed the food from the bowl… can’t get much into her mouth…

那天要餵妹妹吃飯真的是有夠傷腦筋. 他一直要來抓碗, 不給他抓就生氣又不肯吃飯. 媽媽有聽說, 小朋友會想要自己餵自己吃飯, 我們應該要鼓勵他們, 會弄得很髒就是了… 以下就是結果…
抓了一把粥也吃不到什麼…

* Thursday, 3rd April 2008 – almost 9 months*

Last few days, we’ve noticed Emma is more and more steady on her feet. More and more times we noticed her standing up without support for a few seconds. Today, she was standing for almost 10 seconds!

Last night, she’s even walk one little step forward. She was trying to get from her toy to me, the gap was just a little too big. So she step forward and landed on me, still standing though. Whereas in the past, she would have landed on the floor flat first and had to crawl then stand up again.

It’s amazing watching these developments!

最近這幾天發現妹妹越站越穩, 越來越多次就自己空手站著一下下. 今天還有次他這樣站了快10秒! 他還會蹲著玩呢!

昨天晚上還走了一小步! 他從他的玩具要走過來媽媽這裡, 中間剛好就差了那麼一步! 他就往前一步然後倒在我身上..還是站著就是了! 以前就還沒到媽媽這裡就先到地上囉!

看著他這樣慢慢成長, 真的好神奇喔!
