Plunket Visit update
* 23 months *
Friday, 26th June
It is 8 more days to Emma’s 2nd year birthday. (a side note: Today is also Emma’s cousin, Adam’s 3rd year birthday)
This morning we had the 2 year check up with the Plunket Nurse.
The nurse asked quite a few questions for her records, such as:
if Emma is drinking milk out of a bottle or a cup (bottle still but she can drink out of a cup fine. We stopped having night feeds now and we are eating much better – still a fussy eater but better);
if Emma is sleeping through (no – she suggested that we don’t go to see to her at all at night, tell her what’s going to happen and this is the new routine first. Then prepare for a few nights of no sleep and let her cry)
if Emma is talking more (Yes, we can make up new sentences ourselves, 2-4 word sentences are quite common; she can pronounce s at the end of the word, not the start of the word though. – Nurse said that’s fine, that’s what 3 years old do as well.)
In terms of other development: she knows all the common colours other than grey; she recognises most of the alphabets; she knows her animal sounds; loves singing etc etc… she can’t say most of the shapes yet, other than star, moon and heart. But she can put any shapes into the right position easily now. She also feeds herself well, with both spoon and fork, started playing with knives as well for cutting.
So, overall, nurse was happy with her development, said she’s well ahead of the average 2 year olds.
Then we went for a weigh in and check on our height.
Height: 89.5cm
Weight: 13.9kg (with her clothes on)
Mum is quitely surprised at that. I know she’s taller than 87cm, didn’t think she’s quite 89cm yet… and to think people say you take their height at age 2 x 2 equals their adult height… hmm…. (I know I will the shortie in the family, but still…. hmm…) Oh well, it’s just a theory anyway.
We will see.
