Our little girl is learning from what we do with her. (Well maybe except the dummy bit?)

Yesterday, she made me lie down and sleep. Stuff the dummy in my mouth (whether I like it or not), then went got her little cloth and put it on me as if it was a blanket.

She said: “mummy 蓋被被”. (ie. put blanket on)

Then.. “mummy go night night, Emma right back” (she meant be right back).

She went told grandparents “mummy night night, shiiii”.

Then she checked on me again, every time I open my eyes, I get told “close eye”, “mummy night night”. She said this with a tone, as if, hey why aren’t you sleeping yet, like how we say it to her!! If I take the dummy out, I get it stuff back in me ^^;;;;; I tried pretend to fall asleep and the dummy fall out, didn’t work either! I had to have it!

Then she told me she will be right back again and said “Emma 泡ㄋㄟㄋㄟ” (Emma make milk)… “冰冰ㄋㄟㄋㄟ” (the cold milk from the fridge)… then ran off to the fridge trying to get the milk out.

Finally I was allowed to get up, as she needed help to get the milk out.

I guess they do learn just from simple daily activities and routines! Wow… hmm… not sure how the dummy bit comes though?? Because she hasn’t had one since we wean her out of it at 9 months!!

* 2 years *

Today my dad was telling me that Emma can write “T” now, and she’d say T, Toes.

She recognises T for a while now and it is associated with the word, “Toes”.

I was quite surprised and told the hubby, and he was like… as if this isn’t a big news to him…

Because, he just taught her how to write it earlier today!

………..

Oh well, so we can draw circles and write “T”

Around the time Emma is turning 2 and shortly after, she’s learning faster than ever and talking a lot more! It’s been really amazing and just little bits of notes here and there…

Emma: No. Emma, Mummy, Apple!

The day after Emma turned 2, out of the blue, she started counting.. 1 to 10 in Chinese very quickly. Doesn’t matter how many things are there, if she counts in Chinese, it’s 1 to 10.

就在妹妹生日隔一天, 突然間的就從一數到十. 一二三四五六七八九十. 而且是一口氣數完. 也不管數的東西有幾個, 就是一數到十就是了.

10th July

We went to the Zoo with Emma’s cousins.

We saw the big elephants and their big droppings… mummy said “大便臭臭” (poo is stinky in Chinese).

Emma repeated… “大便臭臭”

Ever since that day, we see elephant, we say elephant “大便臭臭” (stinky poo)

從那天起, 我們看到大象就說… Elephant “大便臭臭”.

11th July

早上起來跟媽媽說… Emma 大便, 換臭臭 (We woke up and told mummy she’s pooed and needs a change – used to only say we need a change)

去刷牙的時候跟媽媽說… Emma 玩玩具 (told mummy Emma play with toys in Chinese for the first time, while we were brushing teeth)

之後就很高興的唱了… 一閃一閃亮晶晶晶…

這是我們第一次唱小星星中文版呢. 害媽媽呆掉了…

(then she sang the first line of twinkle twinkle little star in Chinese, again first time ever!! Mummy was shocked and stunned)

11th July

Daddy and mummy had been training Emma to say I love you.

Used to be…

Daddy: Emma, say I love you mummy

Emma: NO!

Finally…

Emma started singing I love you, I love you, I love you by herself…

Daddy: Emma, say I love you mummy

Emma: I love you mummy, I love daddy.

12th July

After trying to teach Emma to say “Thank you” in Chinese for the last 6 months?!?!?!

Finally she said 謝謝!!

14th July

I was drawing with Emma and she requested me to draw hen.

Normally hen is “mummy bo bo”, so that was cool.

Then it was mummy draw “Diva Hen”! Wow, she learnt that one from watching Little Bear (her favourite cartoon)

16th July

We could say “more” for a very long time now…

Then we moved to “one more” even though it could be one more after one more…. and still one more.. when she wants cookies or treats.

Now, we’ve moved onto “some more”!

17th July

We were in Eastridge shopping mall walking around. Emma wants mummy to pick her up, mummy ran away instead…

話說我們在 Eastridge shopping mall 逛著. 妹妹要媽媽抱他, 媽媽落跑了…

Emma: Mummy, come back here!

Mummy (thinking): What?!

Daddy: Hahahaha I like it, I like it a lot!

The next day morning, Emma was sitting there singing…. “baby, where are you, come back here”.

Yes, we could also say “where are you” when she’s looking for one of us.

Emma also says “see” a lot more.

We were chewing on our jacket and then said… “See mummy, all wet”.

==============================================

Lots more words she could say and repeat now. Very amazing!
