Okay!

* 2 years 1 months / 25 months*

Lately, Emma has a new word that she likes to use a lot: “Okay”.

She either makes a statement and says okay, or she asks a question and answers okay as if then it is agreed by all.

So here are some sentences I can remember she said lately…

She saw my laptop and said… Emma push E, E Emma, okay. Then we pushed E on the keyboard.

Trying to get her changed and she said: Emma run away, okay. Then we tried to run away.

Dinner time, Emma sit mummy, okay. Then shuffles her bums and sat on me.

Bath time, she tried to shut the door on us and keep us in or out, so we’ve been running around in and out of the bathroom closing doors, opening doors. Eventually, we shut her out of the bathroom and she said: Emma come in, too. Okay!

Meal time, she often says: Emma eat xxxx okay.

Changing time, or some other time, she’d say: Emma go hide, okay.

I’m sure there’s a lot more and will come back to add more later!

Woof woof

* 2 year, 1 month / 25 months *

Emma has a little brown soft toy dog that she got given by the grandparents for her birthday. It was sent from Christchurch.

On Friday (21/08) when I was at home with her, trying to get her changed to go out… she was playing with her little “woof woof”. It doesn’t have a name, well… “woof woof” is its name.

Then out of the blue, Emma said.. “woof woof name Andrew”.

(I should also note that we’ve lately learnt: “Mummy, Sally, daddy Andrew”.

So, looks like we decided the woof woof’s name will be Andrew.

Of course, mummy couldn’t stop smiling and called daddy to tell him… guess what?! :P

Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy…

Last night, daddy started singing… “Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy… and I feel like loving you”

Mummy went: “Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy…”

Emma went: “me, too”, then she started off singing… “yummy yummy…”

We just cracked up.

Counting to 10

*2 years 1 month*

Today, we’ve been told that Emma can count from 1 to 10 in Maori.

She already can count from 1 to 10 in Mandarin and English…

Now, that explains why she’s been counting her fingers in something we don’t understand….

So, in the interest of learning, mummy went and looked it up…

Here’s how you count 1 to 10 in Maori

1 Tahi
2 Rua
3 Toru
4 Whā
5 Rima
6 Ono
7 Whitu
8 Waru
9 Iwa
10 Tekau

I think it’d be a long while before I can remember that! :P

Emma @ Daycare

* 2 year, 1 month*

Little stories teachers told us about her at daycare this week…

On Tuesday (11/Aug), Emma had a nice long nap (1 hour and 45 mins) at daycare. Apparently she was sleeping next to another smaller kid on the mattress out in the play area. She was sleeping. Every time the little kid coughed, Emma would gently pat him in her sleep.

The teachers said, she was looking after herself sleeping and looking after the little kid at the same time! Very nice! :)

In recent time, daddy – who is scared of the poo nappies, unfortunately had to change Emma’s poo nappy twice. Every time he puts on the gloves on and making weird faces and noises about how stinky it is!! Emma finds that very amusing.

Apparently at daycare, Emma was changing nappies for the little dolls, and she was also making the funny face and saying something like it is stinky. But the teacher couldn’t make out what she was saying but the face said it was stinky.

Well that is because Emma only knows the word “stinky” in Chinese: 臭臭.

This is a story from a few weeks back…

Apparently one day Emma took her pants off and started running around with just her nappies. It was cold that day. Then all the girls in the toddler area followed her… and the teachers busy chasing all these girls in their nappies around, asking them to put pants on, because it is cold!!

I think that’s all the recent stories I can remember from the teachers. :)
