Funny sayings from Emma

* 2 years, 2-3 months *

These are some funny sayings or some impressive sentences from Emma that I can remember lately…

“Oh… only small one”, after we pooed on the potty and only a small-ish one came out.

“Better wash it”, after we drew on our pink cloth.

“Don’t worry daddy, Emma is here”, patting daddy.

For a while, Emma gets so excited about telling us something, so quickly, her sentences can’t quite follow what she wanted to say so quickly, so it usually starts as: “Emma Emma Emma Emma…. ” eventually something will follow after the strings of Emma. Because most of her sentences start with Emma.

“Swiper no swipe Emma cookie”

“Emma big girl, go toilet”

“Emma little monster, daddy big monster”

“Emma little monkey, Adam big monkey, Bella big monkey”

“Where daddy’s cow, Emma can’t find it, Daddy come help!”

Daddy: “Bath time!”
Emma: “Not yet, Emma still busy”

“Emma close this door”

“Emma needs fluffy now” – 9th Oct

“Kitty come on, follow me!”

Daddy has a cheese cake, Emma wants to have a few bites, so daddy said, eat carrot first. So Emma did. Daddy said eat one more… so she did. 6 small pieces of carrots later, daddy said, eat one potatoe, too. Emma said: “Oh, man!” – 10th Oct

“Emma go sleep (with) mummy now, so mummy come get down Emma now” says Emma, sitting on the bar stools and letting mummy know that she wants to come sleep with me. So I better get her off the chair now.

Mummy: “花生醬放在冰箱都硬掉了, 好像大便” (peanut butter has been left in the fridge, gone all hard, looks like poo)
Emma: “Daddy come eat 大便” (poo)
Mummy: hahahahahaha – 11th Oct

“Oh my goodness!” – 11th Oct

“太陽刺刺 (sun shining in the eyes), must close curtain” – 12th Oct

“Looks like nice seat” – 12th Oct

“Emma run away… Oh no! Uphill, Emma can’t run” – 19th Oct

Toilet “Training”

* 2 years, 2-3 months *

Emma is slowly getting to the age where you can check if she’s ready for toilet training. So mummy bought some cloth nappies and tried them on whenever she can. Although that was hard, as she’s in daycare 3 days and with grandparents 1 day. So only Friday to Sunday is toilet-”training”-able time. Also it has to be the times we are not going out, which is also rare.

One Friday morning, within 3 hours, we had 5 wet nappies and 4 wet pants later… mummy gave up. I thought, she’s probably not there yet, as she was wet through and couldn’t tell she was wet.

But cloth nappy still comes in handy in those odd times when she needed a change 1-2 hours before bed time. Saves another nappy! :D

Toilet-”training” is an activity that is done by mummy. No one else in the house seemed to want to play with the cloth nappies; nor too bothered about toilet-training.

It wasn’t really any “training”, I thought now, we will just wait till she’s more ready and see what to do.

Then…

Friday, 18th September, (2 years, 2 months and 2 weeks), Emma came to me and said Emma 大便臭臭 (poo, stinky). So I checked and found no poo in her nappy. Then I quickly took her to the toilet and sat her in the potty; I had to sit on the big toilet with her. We sang and we mucked around for a while; then I pretend to make the grunting noise. Emma did the same too. We were having fun. Then she started doing some serious ones…. then she was quite excited, got up and said: “ohh, 臭臭 (stinky), look mummy”.

Yes, we’ve pooed in the potty for the first time! I took a photo but I won’t share it here. :P

After that, the following Thursday, we did the same again, except this time, it was a lot faster, she knew exactly what she has to do and did it.

The following week, when she was with me at home, including evening time, she pooed in her potty. 3 times. A few times she woke up with a poo nappy, or pooed while we were out. But the funny thing is, she would only go to the potty with me so far.

This week, on Sunday, 4th Oct (just turned 2years 3 months), she peed in the potty for the first time, too. She pooed in the potty earlier that day. In the evening before bath time, I found her nappy to be dry after 1-2 hours, so I sat her on the potty and asked if she wants to pee. And she did, she was most amazed. Kept asking me to look. The next day, she also asked to go pee, but only had 2 drops. I think she’s not quite there yet to control her pee, so she knows it is happening but then it’s too late to get to the toilet.

Friday, when we went out, she told daddy she has a poo nappy, and it was about 10-15 mins later before we got into the toilet in the shopping mall. I checked, no poo. So I rushed her into the cubicle and sat her on the toilet + holding onto her. We peed in the toilet and then took a while before a few solid poo came out. I think she’s a little constipated.

But this is a big change, pee and poo in the public toilet! Still with mummy only but hey, this is really amazing as it is!! Because, I really didn’t do anything in terms of “training” her.

Now, I used “training” with quptation marks, because, to be honest, it really was all her own work. She just started asking to go to the toilet and did it. Once she’s done it, slowly she gets used to the idea and more happens.

So I guess it won’t be too long now, she would be nappy-free, at least during the day. Maybe a few more months. We will see.

Okay!

* 2 years 1 months / 25 months*

Lately, Emma has a new word that she likes to use a lot: “Okay”.

She either makes a statement and says okay, or she asks a question and answers okay as if then it is agreed by all.

So here are some sentences I can remember she said lately…

She saw my laptop and said… Emma push E, E Emma, okay. Then we pushed E on the keyboard.

Trying to get her changed and she said: Emma run away, okay. Then we tried to run away.

Dinner time, Emma sit mummy, okay. Then shuffles her bums and sat on me.

Bath time, she tried to shut the door on us and keep us in or out, so we’ve been running around in and out of the bathroom closing doors, opening doors. Eventually, we shut her out of the bathroom and she said: Emma come in, too. Okay!

Meal time, she often says: Emma eat xxxx okay.

Changing time, or some other time, she’d say: Emma go hide, okay.

I’m sure there’s a lot more and will come back to add more later!

Woof woof

* 2 year, 1 month / 25 months *

Emma has a little brown soft toy dog that she got given by the grandparents for her birthday. It was sent from Christchurch.

On Friday (21/08) when I was at home with her, trying to get her changed to go out… she was playing with her little “woof woof”. It doesn’t have a name, well… “woof woof” is its name.

Then out of the blue, Emma said.. “woof woof name Andrew”.

(I should also note that we’ve lately learnt: “Mummy, Sally, daddy Andrew”.

So, looks like we decided the woof woof’s name will be Andrew.

Of course, mummy couldn’t stop smiling and called daddy to tell him… guess what?! :P

Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy…

* 2 years 1 month /25 months *

Last night, daddy started singing… “Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy… and I feel like loving you”

Mummy went: “Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy…”

Emma went: “me, too”, then she started off singing… “yummy yummy…”

We just cracked up.

Counting to 10

*2 years 1 month*

Today, we’ve been told that Emma can count from 1 to 10 in Maori.

She already can count from 1 to 10 in Mandarin and English…

Now, that explains why she’s been counting her fingers in something we don’t understand….

So, in the interest of learning, mummy went and looked it up…

Here’s how you count 1 to 10 in Maori

1 Tahi
2 Rua
3 Toru
4 Whā
5 Rima
6 Ono
7 Whitu
8 Waru
9 Iwa
10 Tekau

I think it’d be a long while before I can remember that! :P

Emma @ Daycare

* 2 year, 1 month*

Little stories teachers told us about her at daycare this week…

On Tuesday (11/Aug), Emma had a nice long nap (1 hour and 45 mins) at daycare. Apparently she was sleeping next to another smaller kid on the mattress out in the play area. She was sleeping. Every time the little kid coughed, Emma would gently pat him in her sleep.

The teachers said, she was looking after herself sleeping and looking after the little kid at the same time! Very nice! :)

=================================

In recent time, daddy – who is scared of the poo nappies, unfortunately had to change Emma’s poo nappy twice. Every time he puts on the gloves on and making weird faces and noises about how stinky it is!! Emma finds that very amusing.

Apparently at daycare, Emma was changing nappies for the little dolls, and she was also making the funny face and saying something like it is stinky. But the teacher couldn’t make out what she was saying but the face said it was stinky.

Well that is because Emma only knows the word “stinky” in Chinese: 臭臭.

=================================

This is a story from a few weeks back…

Apparently one day Emma took her pants off and started running around with just her nappies. It was cold that day. Then all the girls in the toddler area followed her… and the teachers busy chasing all these girls in their nappies around, asking them to put pants on, because it is cold!!

==================================

I think that’s all the recent stories I can remember from the teachers. :)

Mummy go night night

* 2 years *

Our little girl is learning from what we do with her. (Well maybe except the dummy bit?)

Yesterday, she made me lie down and sleep. Stuff the dummy in my mouth (whether I like it or not), then went got her little cloth and put it on me as if it was a blanket.

She said: “mummy 蓋被被”. (ie. put blanket on)

Then.. “mummy go night night, Emma right back” (she meant be right back).

She went told grandparents “mummy night night, shiiii”.

Then she checked on me again, every time I open my eyes, I get told “close eye”, “mummy night night”. She said this with a tone, as if, hey why aren’t you sleeping yet, like how we say it to her!! If I take the dummy out, I get it stuff back in me ^^;;;;; I tried pretend to fall asleep and the dummy fall out, didn’t work either! I had to have it!

Then she told me she will be right back again and said “Emma 泡ㄋㄟㄋㄟ” (Emma make milk)… “冰冰ㄋㄟㄋㄟ” (the cold milk from the fridge)… then ran off to the fridge trying to get the milk out.

Finally I was allowed to get up, as she needed help to get the milk out.

I guess they do learn just from simple daily activities and routines! Wow… hmm… not sure how the dummy bit comes though?? Because she hasn’t had one since we wean her out of it at 9 months!!

T – Toes

* 2 years *

Today my dad was telling me that Emma can write “T” now, and she’d say T, Toes.

She recognises T for a while now and it is associated with the word, “Toes”.

I was quite surprised and told the hubby, and he was like… as if this isn’t a big news to him…

Because, he just taught her how to write it earlier today!

………..

Oh well, so we can draw circles and write “T”
